Sinn Féin Sinn Féin candidate for the Greystones local electoral area in the upcoming elections Brian Fogarty has called on Wicklow County Council to put in place a walkway to allow local people direct access to Mill Road and the Bus stop at ALDI in Greystones from Burnaby Lawns. The current walkway between Burnaby Lawns and Mill Road and the Bus Stop at ALDI in Greystones is little more than a mud track that has been let go to wreck and ruin and is such poor condition that local people are forced to take another route which places an additional ten minutes to their journey to the Bus Stop.
Fogarty said:
“The current condition of the walkway between Burnaby lawns and the bus stop at Aldi Greystones is simply unacceptable and impassable. This route has been traditionally used by both children and workers to get to and from the bus stop. There is a need for Wicklow County Council to act to put in place a proper walkway and public lighting immediately. The current walkway has been let go to wreck and ruin and much of the time is simply impassable. It is placing an additional ten-minute burden on local people, who are being forced to take an alternative indirect route through the estate to get onto Mill Road. This is not a big job but would make a big difference to locals in the area and with the installation of public lighting it would make the area safer for both residents and people using the walkway. I would appeal again to Wicklow County Council to put in place a new walkway as soon as possible.”
