West Wicklow Sinn Féin election candidate Aidan Kinsella has called on Wicklow County Council to act immediately to ensure that Traffic lights are installed on the junction in Tinahely, situated past the bridge, and beside the old Dutchman pub. The junction is a danger to public safety, posing risks to both pedestrians and motorists.
Kinsella said:
“I am very concerned about the hazard this junction poses to both motorists and pedestrians in the town of Baltinglass. The current situation is unacceptable for residents, as it is only a matter of time before someone is hurt or worse.
Working alongside my party colleague John Brady TD, we have been in contact with Wicklow County Council to stress the urgent need for Traffic lights to be installed as quickly as possible.
I have been contacted by a large number of local people in the area, who are very concerned about the current safety of the junction. And I know that local residents are extremely concerned that what is clearly an important road safety issue has not been addressed sooner.
I am calling on Wicklow County Council to take action as soon as possible to address this issue, as failure to do so represents unacceptable risk to motorists.”
